Vacancy: Experienced Motorcycle Technician

  • Working Pattern: Tuesday to Friday 8.30am-5.30pm. Saturdays 8.30am-5pm, occasionally covering holidays and events.

We have a Technical opportunity available for a career at Ducati and Triumph Glasgow. We are looking for a hardworking, experienced and loyal Motorcycle Technician to undertake a variety of service and maintenance tasks in our Workshop, while co-operating with our Parts and Service Team in one of the largest motorcycle dealerships in Europe.

About Us
We are a reputable, family owned company and after 15 years of success with Ducati Glasgow we have expanded and taken on the franchise for Triumph Glasgow for the West of Scotland. In 2017 we moved to our new state-of-the-art, award-winning showroom at Pit Lane, Hillington Park, Glasgow. All of our departments are hardworking and committed and we now proudly employ around 40 passionate and experienced staff members, a combination of long serving employees and more recent hires taken on in the last few years through our substantial growth phase, relocation and expansion.

The Workshop Facility
Our multi-franchise dealership is the largest purpose-built motorcycle dealership in the country and one of the biggest in Europe. A product of a £3.5 million investment which includes a no expense spared, industry leading £150,000 workshop installation.

We have 12-technical work-bays with electro hydraulic lifts and our bespoke custom-built work benches and wall units are fully integrated with the latest diagnostic equipment, compressed air / oil / water dispensing system, power and data, as well as fully equipped with essential manufacturer specialist tooling. A newly commissioned MOT bay and tyre fitment bay complete this full service and maintenance area in the heart of the dealership resulting in a full future capability of 11 full time technicians. The centrally heated workshop is complete with full under floor exhaust extraction plus auxiliary ambient air cleaning as an additional feature. There is easy access to part and accessory departments, parts storage and adjacent to the workshop we have our own fully fitted kitchen with seating area, wash area and bathroom for Aftersales Staff.

The Role
Candidates will be required to work on both new and previous model Ducati and Triumph Motorcycles as well as other manufacturer models from our used bike stock. Candidates should be familiar with computer diagnostic equipment and be fully competent in the repair and service environment for modern motorcycle engine work. You should be able to work unsupervised in a safe manner, within timescales and to a high standard.

Ideal candidates will have at least two years experience within the motorcycle service industry. MOT certifications will be an advantage although not essential. Good attention to detail, awareness of safety procedures and a full, unrestricted motorcycle licence is essential. Up to date knowledge of vehicle and consumer legislation and trade practices is essential.

We are looking for a team member who will bring quality skills, have drive and passion, and be able to help progress and advance the development of this very busy workshop. You must also be able to work under pressure in a high standard and busy environment.

Your responsibilities will include;

  • Working in a busy workshop on a day-to-day basis
  • General and advance levels of diagnosis, servicing, maintenance and repairs
  • Performing Vehicle Health Checks
  • Fitting accessories, both factory items and aftermarket products
  • Pre-Delivery Inspections for all new and all used motorcycles
  • Quality of workmanship must be to a high standard and of brand guidelines, from both our premium brands, Ducati and Triumph
  • Warranty procedures to be followed correctly and to manufacturer standards
  • Working closely and communicating with all members of the Aftersales Team including any delays
  • Continuing professional development with a passion to improve skills
  • Maintaining high productivity
  • Completing of paperwork of all job cards
  • Prioritising workload
  • Ensuring on-time delivery of work

The ideal candidate should be/have:

  • Strong understanding of the motorcycle industry, specifically the Servicing side of the industry
  • Must take instruction
  • Aware of safety procedures and up to date knowledge of vehicle and consumer legislation and trade practices
  • Able to work under pressure in a high standard and busy environment
  • MOT certifications will be an advantage although not essential
  • A full, unrestricted motorcycle license is essential
  • Result and target driven

  • Good attention to detail
