Current Vacancy: Workshop Controller
Site: Ducati and Triumph Glasgow

Contract: Full-time, Permanent, 45 hours per week with 3 month probationary period.
Working Pattern: Tuesday to Friday 8.30am-5.30pm. Saturdays 8.30am-5pm, occasionally covering holidays and events.

We have a rare opportunity available for a career at Ducati and Triumph Glasgow. We are looking for a motivated, organised and long-term Workshop Controller to lead a Workshop, Parts and Service Team of circa 15 staff in one of the largest motorcycle dealerships in Europe.

About Us
We are a reputable, family owned company and after 15 years of success with Ducati Glasgow we have expanded and taken on the franchise for Triumph Glasgow for the West of Scotland. In 2017 we moved to our new state-of-the-art, award-winning showroom at Pit Lane, Hillington Park, Glasgow. All of our departments are hardworking and committed and we now proudly employ around 40 passionate and experienced staff members, a combination of long serving employees and more recent hires taken on in the last few years through our substantial growth phase, relocation and expansion.

The Workshop Facility
Our multi-franchise dealership is the largest purpose-built motorcycle dealership in the country and one of the biggest in Europe. A product of a £3.5 million investment which includes a no expense spared, industry leading £150,000 workshop installation.

We have 10-technical work-bays with electro hydraulic lifts and our bespoke custom-built work benches and wall units are fully integrated with the latest diagnostic equipment, compressed air / oil / water dispensing system, power and data, as well as fully equipped with essential manufacturer specialist tooling. A newly commissioned MOT bay and tyre fitment bay complete this full service and maintenance area in the heart of the dealership resulting in a full future capability of 11 full time technicians. The centrally heated workshop is complete with full under floor exhaust extraction plus auxiliary ambient air cleaning as an additional feature. There is easy access to part and accessory departments, parts storage and adjacent to the workshop we have our own fully fitted kitchen with seating area, wash area and bathroom for Aftersales Staff.

The Role
We are actively seeking to recruit an experienced Workshop Controller to join our busy motorcycle dealership with an interest in a long term career within our business. We are looking for a reliable and committed individual who possesses strong leadership and co-ordination skills, and is keen for a senior role within the motorcycle industry. If you have Aftersales Management experience and want to work with an organisation who truly values their staff, then this could be the role for you.

The ideal candidate should be/have:

  • Senior-level understanding of the motor trade, specifically the After Sales side of the industry
  • Able to guide and direct a growing team across a range of Aftersales departments, as well as being able to negotiate, instruct and influence
  • Aware of safety procedures and up to date knowledge of vehicle and consumer legislation and trade practices
  • Able to work under pressure in a high standard and busy environment
  • MOT certifications will be an advantage although not essential
  • A full, unrestricted motorcycle license is essential
  • Result and target driven
  • Extremely organised
  • Dedicated to providing excellent customer service
  • Computer literate and able to use PC / office equipment
  • Good attention to detail

Your responsibilities will include;

  • Running a busy workshop on a day-to-day basis
  • Supervising work across both our premium brands, Ducati and Triumph
  • Issuing jobs to Senior and Factory-Trained Technicians, as well as Apprentices
  • Monitoring progress of repairs and servicing and communicating to Service Advisors of any delays
  • Co-ordinating the workload with all teams, including Service Reception
  • Ensuring on-time delivery of work promised to customers and communicating same
  • Ensuring that quality checks are carried out to brand guidelines and high standards
  • Ensure warranty procedures are followed correctly and to manufacturer standards
  • Continuous improvement of Technician efficiencies and maintaining high productivity within all Aftersales Teams
  • Efficiently completing paperwork to ensure timely process of all job cards and inspection sheets
  • Liaising with customers and providing technical assistance where possible
  • Responding promptly to any customer complaints and ensuring timely, professional and correct resolution is achieved
