Did you notice some tweed and styled moustaches ride past you on Sunday morning through Glasgow City Center? Did you hear the gentle put-put of 200 vintage motorcycles riding through the Clyde Tunnel?
The annual Distinguished Gentleman's Ride took place on Sunday 29th September and rode from the suburbs, through town and finished up at Triumph Glasgow in order to proudly raise awareness of the Movember Foundation, in particular prostate cancer and men's mental health.
Over 200 dapper ladies and gentleman turned up for the ride and helped to raise an incredible £18,835! Over the last few years, The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride Glasgow has helped to raise a total well over £50,000 for Movember, jolly good we say!
DGR truly was a sight to behold from the beginning! With winners for the Best Dressed Lady, Best Dressed Gentleman and Most Dapper Motorcycle, we saw classically dressed riders on retro-styled Triumphs, classic BSA’s and even custom machines decorated with moustaches and monocles!
With food, drinks, photo-booths, tweed suppliers, speeches, awards, raffle prizes and more - the Triumph Glasgow DGR After Party continued the celebrations and fundraising in style!
There were also raffle prizes up for grabs donated from local businesses which included a weekend hire in an Aston Martin courtesy of Modern Classics, an overnight stay at Igliston Country Club, a tailored tweed dinner jacket from Walker Slater and a Car Racing Experience from Knockhill Racing Circuit!
Special Guests also included BrawBeard founder John Jackson, Mohair Barbers, Triumph Classic Car Club and Mind The Men, who are a Glasgow-based Suicide Prevention Support Group. Even local Movember Ambassador, Marc Rodwell had a few words to share with the ride attendees, a few teary eyes in the crowd reinforced the sincerity of the purpose.
Marc Rodwell told the crowds in this speech, “It’s an honour to come along and be part of such a great event. Glasgow always does a great job in raising an incredible amount of funds and telling men and women about the support which is available. It is so important to know there’s someone to talk to and someone somewhere who can help.”
With jazz bands continuing into the afternoon, complimentary petits fours for everyone and the post-polishing commencing, The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride 2019 concluded for another year, although the fundraising and support lives on!
