Triumph customers and owners can receive £40 off Advanced Rider Courses with IAM!

We are delighted to confirm that Triumph customers and owners are being offered discount on the Advanced Driving and Riding course, operated by IAM RoadSmart who are nationally recognised and accredited by the DVSA. The course delivers advanced riding skills development stemming from the police’s Motorcycle Roadcraft riding manual, helping you to improve your skills, anticipation, and riding enjoyment. You'll become a qualified IAM RoadSmart Advanced Rider when you pass the course.

The course is delivered by volunteers who are linked to 202 groups throughout the UK.

The course consists of:

  • observed drives or rides with a mentor (observer), providing guidance and practical examples to help develop advanced driving or riding skills
  • a copy of the course material
  • test fee
  • first years membership of IAM RoadSmart and access to all the benefits
  • a year’s subscription to the IAM RoadSmart members magazine
  • membership of the local group

What's Involved?
The course is based on a series of observed rides, leading to the Advanced Riding test during which you can showcase your newly acquired advanced skills. Once you've booked the course, you'll be assigned to one of IAM's 90 motorcycle groups around the country. You'll be paired with an observer from your group, who will accompany you on rides and advise you on how to develop your riding to the advanced test standards.

The test itself lasts for about 90 mins and usually covers 30 - 40 miles along a variety of road types. During the test the examiner will thoroughly assess your riding ability according to the different road conditions. You'll negotiate various hazards and situations, utilising the skills and techniques that have been developed on the course.

What benefits will I get?
The main benefit of taking the course is becoming a safer rider - providing you with the skills, experience and understanding to quickly adapt to a range of situations.The statistics speak for themselves. IAM asked 2,500 riders who passed the Advanced Riding Test what benefit they’d seen. They told us that taking the Advanced Riding course:

  • Found riding more enjoyable (97%);
  • Avoided a specific accident or incident (61%);
  • Reported improved use of road space (94%)

We'll also welcome you as a full member of IAM RoadSmart, which has a number of benefits - members' only insurance, www.bikestop.co.uk discounts, an award-winning magazine and access to our circuit based skills days.

How much does it cost?
Advanced Rider Course usually costs £149, but is just £109 for you thanks to your association with Triumph Motorcycles. This includes as many observed rides as you need to become 'test ready', the test ride, the course manual, and your IAM RoadSmart membership.
